thanksgiving 2017.

Thanksgiving looked a lot like waking up at 5:45 a.m. Not to cook a turkey (we’ve swapped turkey for prime rib & ham over the years), but to run the Turkey Trot.
It looked a lot like going to the ATM at 6:15 a.m. to grab cash and thinking it must be malfunctioning, because there’s no way I have $0 in my savings and -$216 in my bank account…and then checking my banking app & realizing that someone has actually wiped my entire account clean via Career Builder purchases.

After a quick phone call (I’ve never been more thankful for someone working on Thanksgiving, bless you), it looked like meeting up with our friends to run the race – running the entire 3.1 miles, even through the “hill from hell” at the 2.5 mile marker – followed by cinnamon rolls, veggie egg frittatas, and mimosas whilst battling Sling TV to stream the Macy’s Day Parade.
My grandparents couldn’t make it down this year, so for me, Thanksgiving looked a lot like cooking in the kitchen for hours with my mama – green bean casserole, stuffing, and the ham were on my list (all while drinking more mimosas, of course). By the time everything was in the oven, my feet were killing me and I felt totally zonked, and I gained a new appreciation for all the people out there who cook the full on meal every single year. It is not easy, and a double oven is definitely on my “dream house” wish list.
It looked like a new bottle of New Zealand sauv blanc, and eating before it got dark outside – a true feat in the Rose family household – followed by a 7:50 p.m. viewing of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (SO GOOD) in fancy recliner seats. To top off the evening, we all enjoyed a slice of apple pie with ice cream and called it a day. A happy, fuzzy feeling filled day.

What did your Thanksgiving Day look like?
