And thank you so much for hopping into my little corner of the internet!
Growing up, I was always a bit of a writer. From essays to "day in the life" short stories drafted in a 99 cent spiral notebook, I felt there was always a story to be written. Flash forward into my teenage years and beyond, I started up random blogs here and there, but nothing ever stuck. It wasn't until 2014 when I was fighting the cubicle life that I found I desperately needed a creative outlet. I'd made a Blogger account about a year prior with a random Taylor Swift lyric as the title (Good, Right, and Real...ha!), but finally came up with Samantha Rose Says, and it seems as though something finally stuck!
I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, but have called Tampa my home for the past seven going on eight years. I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2013 with a B.A. in mass communications/public relations. However, after a year and a half working in sales and endless job searching in the field, I felt my heart tugging me into a different direction...and completely changed career paths at the ripe old age of 24: I wanted to become a speech-language pathologist.
I quit my job in April 2015, and began my journey as a post-bacc in August 2015, followed by starting up graduate school at USF in August 2016. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions over the last year and a half. I went from a coveted sales position to a restaurant server, all while getting back into the groove of having assignments and studying for exams. While it was a bit of a rough time starting out, it's safe to say that it was the best decision I've ever made, and I am absolutely loving the direction my life is going in.
I've been dating my boyfriend, Ryan, for a little over three years and we have a perfectly cozy 815 square foot apartment together with our two sweet(ish) pups. I used to say that we "randomly" met at a bar in October 2013, but I've recently figured out that there was nothing random about our first encounter. He's the first person I've ever gotten that whole "when you know, you know" type of feeling from, and I have a solid idea that he'll be the last...you know? Ha!
Most of my life these days is spent studying, in class, in clinic, or making extra cash serving tables...but occasionally I do make time to have a life and hobbies, and when that happens, you can find me at brunch with friends, reading, or (attempting) to paint with watercolors.
- I'm obsessed with names, and I love browsing through baby name lists for no reason.
- I think most of life's first world problems can be solved with a strawberry margarita.
- I love blogging, computers, and the like, but still use a pen to paper day planner like it's a religion, and I try to keep up with my paper journal the best I can.
- Getting wrapped up in a new television show is my fave, but sometimes I think I'd also be okay with rewatching every season of The O.C. and Grey's Anatomy forever and ever.
