list of happy, pt 12

My last list of happy was posted two years ago. If you haven't been poking around these parts for that long, my "list of happy" posts are just that: things making me happy lately.

- Three day weekends, every weekend. Four day work weeks are my jam, and they certainly lessen the Sunday scaries. And yes, even though I love my job, I still get the Sunday scaries.
- Watching Schitt's Creek with Ryan on weeknights. If you haven't started watching this show, ohhh my god (reference...if you know, you know) you need to start watching this show. It's kind of like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia meets The Mick? So good. Plus, you can't beat 25-minute episodes.
- Our dwindling wedding countdown. 179 days, and I cannnnot wait. A dwindling wedding downtown also means a dwindling countdown until our honeymoon in Kauai! But in all seriousness...I am so looking forward to being able to call Ryan my husband. Even typing that out is so strange, but SO EXCITING.
- Upcoming travel plans. Colorado this weekend, Nashville in September, Hawaii in October. As much as I love a good routine, breaking the weekend mold with a little getaway is the best mental refresher.
- Going bare-faced...well, almost. Since starting at the hospital, my go-to makeup routine involves mascara and a little eye-brow touch up...and that's about it. Maybe some concealer if I'm afraid of scaring the kids with my zombie-like eye bags. I feel more confident in what I look like, and now putting on a full face of makeup for weekend shenanigans feels like a treat.
- Meeting my best friend's son 24 hours after he was born...that was a moment for the books. I didn't think babies could make me emotional, but I literally cried in the hospital room.
- Playing word games on my phone with my grandma, a cup of English tea in hand.
- Closing out my evenings with a few pages of a book.
- Waking up and realizing you still have five hours of sleep before your alarm goes off.
- Leaving work 45 minutes earlier than usual, which means getting home 45 minutes earlier, and getting to go for an evening run outside before the true Florida heat kicks in.

What's making you happy lately?

List of Happy | Part 11.

Has it really been more than a year since I last wrote my last "list of happy" post? What in the world?
With the semester coming to a rapid close, it's safe to say that life has been all sorts of busy and now more than ever, I'm looking forward to the future.

List of Happy

- Picking up books at the library and actually making time to read them. This just in: getting lost in a good story is way more satisfying than getting lost in my Instagram feed. Who knew? (Almost done with The Woman in Cabin 10, then on to What She Knew and 13 Reasons Why...can you tell I'm on a mystery kick?).
- Drinking 24 ounce mimosas and eating breakfast tacos with Ryan, going on dinner dates, watching movies at home. Making time for each other in the midst of all the crazy.
- Midday naps. Because I won't always be able to take them, and because sometimes I just need them. I cannot exist function without proper rest.
- Rediscovering my old favorite songs. I've been rewatching One Tree Hill and the entire soundtrack gives me all the feels.
- Freshly washed hair and MoroccanOil shampoo and conditioner.
- Pooch snuggles. All the time, every time.

What's been making you happy lately?

A List of Happy, Pt. 9.

one | Making week day lunch dates with Ryan.
two | Watching 'Fail Videos' with my roommate until we almost pee our pajama pants crying with laughter.
three | When my dog stretches his little legs on my chest first thing in the morning...and then proceeds to fall back asleep with me.
four | How the air turns thick and the sky turns a yellowish gray just before a summer storm unfolds.
five | Making a date with myself to watch a movie I've been wanting to see for a long time (Side note: Boyhood was so good.)
six | Finding time to write in my real journal again. Pen, paper and all.
seven | When my internal clock gets me out of bed by 9:30 a.m. every morning.
eight | Creating Excel spreadsheets of grad schools to apply to in the fall for next year. So crazy to even think about.
nine | Waking up every day feeling proud of my decision to quit my job and pursue a new dream. I'd be lying if I said I'm happy working weekends again, but it feels good knowing it's just a means to an end. One day, I'll be where I want to be, doing what I want to do. Until then? I'm enjoying the ride.

A List of Happy, pt. 6

I've been wearing one of Ryan's t-shirts to bed...as a dress. It's so roomy in here.
Having lost almost six pounds in the last month. Small victories.
The last lick of cream cheese frosting from a slice of gourmet bakery made hummingbird cake.
Finally ordered my first package of frank coffee scrub.
When I come home to my parents' house and my dog, Micki, throws himself on the tile floor and demands his belly to be rubbed.
Discovering new music. If you're an active Spotify user and love acoustic music, check out their Afternoon Acoustic playlist under browse. On repeat.
24 days until our long weekend in Savannah. Errrmehgerrrd.
Coming to terms with my own personality flaws, and working toward overcoming them.

A list of happy, pt. 4.

[Because I really need it this week]

Falling asleep to the crackling of my new Nature's Wick pumpkin nutmeg scented candle. And Ryan blowing it out for me so I don't burn down the apartment.
Spinach tortilla pizzas with homemade tomato sauce and homegrown basil leaves.
Enjoying a wine and cheese party with my best friends and my family.
Booking a three day weekend for Ryan and I in November at a perfect B&B in Savannah.
Apartment decorating is officially done. Maybe I'll get a coffee table. Maybe I won't. Other than that, it is completely dunzo.
It's already Friday. What could be better than that?
