Fall fashion lovin'.

How many times have I mentioned that it will not feel like Fall in Florida until, like, January? Fifty times? Okay, great. Well just in case you haven't heard me say it, here we go: Fall is not a thing in Florida. There is summer, summer, summer, and then a cooler summer. Okay, I'm overexaggerating. When it gets cold here, it gets pretty damn chilly. Like upper twenties, but with no snow. It's no Chicago, but it isn't Turks and Caicos either.

One of my favorite things about Fall and the changing of the weather is getting to change up my style. I can't lie: I've had the same three sweaters and long sleeve tee's for several years now. Comfy? Perhaps. Outdated? 100%. I've been scouring Pinterest the last few weeks for some Fall outfit inspiration for my upcoming Savannah trip, and these looks have topped the charts:

When it comes to fashion, I tend to stick with neutral tones. No matter the season, you'll catch me in a lot of black, grays, and cream. Chunky sweaters are a big go-to for me, as is denim chambrays and a good scarf :) I know it won't be for awhile, but I cannot wait for the weather to cool off! XO

Everything in moderation.

I need to be better about updating this bad boy. Sorry about that.

Nearly five pounds down, I am 14 days into my 21 Day Fix, and I am feelin' good, feelin' great. This three week journey thus far has been a lot different than I've been expecting. I don't feel deprived. I don't feel run down. If anything, I feel in control.

If I'm being honest, I haven't stuck to the meal plan 100% of the time. Some days I really didn't feel like drinking Shakeology. Last weekend I ordered fruity drinks at Carrabba's, Friday night I got take out from Daily Eats, and Sunday night I drank wine and had a few too many yogurt covered raisins. I cheated, and there were moments where I felt like just giving up altogether.

Here's the thing: I don't eat badly. I've lost weight in the past, and my diet hasn't changed much since then. I eat healthily. But I eat a lot. I'll either take huge portions the first time, or come back for seconds later. I'll allow myself chocolate and sweets and extra drinks just for the hell of it, to the point where it's not a 'cheat' - it's my way of life.

What this program has taught me is that moderation truly is key. I hear it all the time, from everyone and let's get real, it gets annoying. While I've had a couple 'off the fix' drinks and treats, I've followed it up with healthy choices and appropriate portions every single day, and that's quite an accomplishment for me.

What I'm trying to say is that weight loss, much like life in general, is a journey. Of course I have an ideal goal weight, or a certain way I'd like to look (come on abs, I know you're in there somewhere!), but I don't expect to get there in 21 days. One bad meal won't make you fat, just like one good meal won't make you skinny. It's a process, and the 21 Day Fix has kick started the adventure for me! XO

It's OFFICIALLY Fall.

Not in Florida, of course. But alas, my calendar tells me it is the first day of Autumn, and I could not be more excited. While it's still unbearably hot here most days, Ryan and I had a few minutes to sit on the porch Sunday morning and I'll tell you what...I felt a breeze. A clean, crisp, fall breeze. And then thirty minutes later it was hot and humid. I can see a change in the lighting outside when the sun goes down, though, and for now, that's enough for me.

Summer flew by. I knew that was going to happen. Post grad life, you can't really enjoy summer the way you once did. I didn't get to accomplish every single thing on my summer to-do list, but I completed most, so I'm okay with that! Except for not visiting Blizzard Beach. I'm not okay with that. But there's still time!

Now that it's officially fall, I've decided to make an Autumn To-Do List. This is subject to change, but it's good to have baseline goals, right?
  1. Complete my first round and start/complete a second round of the 21 Day Fix! (One week in, down three pounds!)
  2. Make s'mores, preferably around a bonfire with friends and flannel blankets.
  3. Decorate my apartment with Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving knick knacks.
  4. Turn off the air conditioning and sleep with the windows open. I'll have to wait awhile for this one.
  5. Purchase this perfect faux leather jacket.
  6. See leaves change color, which I will come November. Savannah, here we come!
  7. Go to a Halloween party! I didn't get to dress up last year, so I'm trying to think of costume ideas.
  8. Go to Halloween Horror Nights or some kind of Halloween-themed event at a theme park.
  9. Bake at least three pumpkin inspired creations.
  10. Study and slay the GRE, and gather necessary materials to apply for grad school.
What's on your Fall to-do list? XO

A list of happy, pt. 4.

[Because I really need it this week]

Falling asleep to the crackling of my new Nature's Wick pumpkin nutmeg scented candle. And Ryan blowing it out for me so I don't burn down the apartment.
Spinach tortilla pizzas with homemade tomato sauce and homegrown basil leaves.
Enjoying a wine and cheese party with my best friends and my family.
Booking a three day weekend for Ryan and I in November at a perfect B&B in Savannah.
Apartment decorating is officially done. Maybe I'll get a coffee table. Maybe I won't. Other than that, it is completely dunzo.
It's already Friday. What could be better than that?

Starting up the 21 Day Fix!

Today marks the first day of my 21 Day Fix journey!

[P.S. this is not in any way, shape, or form a promotion of this product. Just sharing what's going on in my life!]

About a month ago, my roommate bought the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology from Beachbody. Having lost weight what I considered the "real way" (cutting out soda, eating healthy, working out 5 days a week) a few years back, I was pretty skeptical of anything that included the word "fix," and I was even more skeptical of any pre-made smoothie mix.

Then,  21 days later, my roommate lost seven pounds and eight inches off her waist...just by eating smaller portions out of colored tupperware containers, drinking one Shakeology shake per day, and working out for 30 minutes per day.

Needless to say, I was impressed, and I decided to try it out on my own! The idea is that since it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, after three weeks, eating proper portions and working out regularly will become a lifestyle, not just a diet. So we shall seeeeee. It's going to be tough, but I'm going to stick it out and hopefully I'll be happy with the results!

XO
